Failure Analysis of Polymer Blinder Using Acoustic Emission Method

Abstract: In this work the features of the propagation of the acoustic waves in the matrix sample (DERAKANE 411-350 epoxy vinyl ester resin) by the source pencil lead break (PLB) with different places and extract the feature of the registered AE parameters from the tensile test were studied. Using the typical features of the AE signals such as the frequency characteristic and the energy of the signals for classify and characterize the AE source in both PLB and tensile test. By analyzing the features of the AE signals ba… Show more

“…8 One of the methods is wavelet transform, which uses two criteria of frequency and energy and classifies data by the entropy method. 9 Some researchers have used a combination of wavelet transform and other methods. 10 Some researchers have tested a single fiber with a tensile test and examined its failure and failure sequence by acoustic emission.…”

“…The characteristic of the registered AE performs according to such signal descriptors as amplitude [2], energy [12], peak [7] and median frequencies [13]. However, the assessment of only one parameter like median, peak or centroid frequency is often ineffective [4], therefore, it is necessary to obtain full information about their frequency components of the recorded AE signals [6,[14][15][16].…”

“…The surface hardness of the boride layer formed can easily exceed 2000 HV and it typically has a good resistance to abrasive and adhesive wear. In particular, surface hardening of steels by boriding treatments has found wide applications in many industries [14] since it can be applied to various alloys such as all ferrous based alloys, nickel and titanium based alloys, and some well-known hardmaterials [15][16][17]21]. This is a quite common steel and derivative materials processing method.…”
