Faktor Determinan Tekanan Darah Pada Penderita Hipertensi Esensial Di Kota Salatiga

Abstract

Background: Essential hypertension is a disease that permanently increases blood pressure. An increase in blood pressure that occurs more than 140/90 mmHg and is not accompanied by other comorbid diseases. Hypertension factors are divided into two, namely non-modifiable factors such as (age, gender and genetics) and modifiable factor such as unhealthy lifestyle. This study aims to determine the determinants factors in essential hypertension.
 Methods: This is a cross-sectional study, including 250 consecutive essential hypertensive patients visiting the outpatient clinics of a public health centre in Salatiga City, Central Java. The Mowrisky- 8 (M-8) were administered to all subjects. Exclusion criteria is secondary hypertension. Data are analyzed by SPSS software.
 Results: The average M-8 score was 8 + 0. The prevalence of control blood pressure was 32,8%. There was 30,4% among subject reported good adherence to antihypertensive medication. Controlled blood pressure was significantly associated with good adherence to antihypertensive medication (prevalence rate ratio [PR], 1,36; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1,08-1,72. Demographic and physical characteristics were not associated with controlled blood pressure.
 Conclusion: Blood pressure controlling is adherence to antihypertensive medication. Prospective and intervention studies should be carried out to improve adherence in improving blood pressure in controlling among patients with essential hypertension.
