This is the final issue of Child Abuse Review for 2022 as well as the end of our first year as co-editors of the journal. It has been a busy year, for us as editors and for the journal itself, and we are pleased to report there have been some significant achievements. Most notably, 2022 has seen a significant increase in the journal impact factor from 1.345 to 2.086, taking our ranking among Social Work journals from 33 out of 43 to 19 out of 43. While we would love to claim the credit for this, this is primarily down to the hard work and commitment of the previous editors, Peter Sidebotham and Jane Appleton. IWe would like to offer them our heartfelt thanks and congratulations for such an important achievement. We are also pleased note that, as we come to the close of the year, the journal continues to enjoy increasing numbers of submissions and published articles, as well as reduced publication turnaround times. This is a wonderful foundation to take us into the New Year and is a testimony to the hard work of our Associate Editors, reviewers, authors and all those who support and guide the development of the journal at both Wiley and the Association of Child Protection Professionals. In terms of our plans for next year, we are delighted to announce that we have a number of special issues that will draw together developing research and practice knowledge across a range of diverse and topical themes relevant to safeguarding professionals. These include:• Child Protection during the Perinatal Periodguest edited by Harriet Ward, Emeritus Professor,
