Far-infrared optical constants of ZnO and ZnO/Ag nanostructures

Abstract: We report on the synthesis of ZnO nanoplates and ZnO nanoplate/Ag nanoparticle heterostructures via a simple and cost effective wet chemical precipitation method. The prepared samples were characterized for structural and optical properties by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), UV-VIS reflectance, Raman, and FT-IR spectroscopy. The Kramers Kronig (K K) method and classical dispersion theory was applied to calculate the far-infrared optical constants such as, refractive index n(u), die… Show more

“…1.The XRD pattern of pure ZnO( In the case of Ag-ZnO Nps the intensity of peak is reduced due to the formation of Ag nanoparticles on the surface of ZnO Nps [30] . A broad peak at 3434 cm -1 (stretching) and 1330cm -1 to 1670 cm -1 (bending) indicates the presence of hydroxyl residue which is due to atmospheric moisture [31,32].…”

“…In this, significant vibrational band observed in the range of 400-500 cm −1 is corresponds characteristic stretching mode of Zn-O bond. In the IR spectra of Ag-ZnO Nps, intensity of the peak is reduced because of the formation of Ag nanoparticles on the surface of ZnO [27]. A broad peak at 3431 cm −1 (stretching) and 1330-1670 cm −1 (bending) indicates the presence of adsorbed atmospheric moisture [28,29].…”

“…The peaks of the D band in CNT‐based NHs exhibit more significance compared to that of the D band in the GO‐based material, indicating better stability in the structure of GO‐based NHs compared to that of CNT‐based nanocomposites . The presence of the anatase TiO 2 polymorph was confirmed with peaks at 398, 519 — , and 641 cm −1 , and E2 and E1 (LO) modes of the wurtzite ZnO structure were verified at 430 and 580 cm −1 peaks …”

“…However, as revealed in Figure B, no distinct peaks were found in the CNT spectrum at 500 to 4000 cm −1 . There were several peaks (OH, CH, CO, CC, and CO) from the spectrum of ZnO‐CNT to TiO 2 ‐CNT, with the peaks at 1300 cm −1 (TiOH) and 550 cm −1 (TiOTi) …”
