“…Therefore, it is clear that certain pests are more likely to afflict particular crop types. Our findings are consistent with other studies where farmers have reported rodents to be very problematic pests for rice production (Tuan et al, 2003;Brown et al, 2008;Stuart et al, 2011), insects for vegetable crops (Obopile et al, 2008;Abang et al, 2014;Nyangau et al, 2020), and fungal infections for fruit crops (Ann et al, 1999;Amata et al, 2009;Lahlali et al, 2021).…”

“…Registrations for some biopesticide AIs in countries in Asia have moved more quickly. The lower number of new registrations could be due to registration costs, regulatory hurdles or inaction from manufacturers due to their perception of the size of the pesticide market (Constantine et al, 2020;Nyangau et al, 2020).…”

“…According to Carson [17], the method is not appropriate since it requires a large sample size and is not statistically efficient. Studies have illustrated the effectiveness of the double-bounded model since it incorporates more information about the respondents' willingness to pay (WTP), and therefore providing efficient estimates [11,18,19]. The model offers a second bid, either higher or lower depending on the respondent's first response, unlike the single-bounded model [17].…”

“…ICIPE 20 is an entomopathogenic fungus: Metarhizium anisopliae Sorokin (1883) isolated from soil in Migori county in Kenya, in 1989. The isolate has been demonstrated to cause between 82-92% mortality in T. absoluta larvae and adult moths and is highly compatible with the pheromone lures currently being used for monitoring and mass trapping moths [11]. The isolate if commercialized as a biopesticide will form an integral component of T. absoluta Integrated Pest Management (IPM) as it can be sprayed on the ground, and on the crop to kill both larvae and adult moths of the pest.…”
