Fast prototyping of a local fuzzy search system for decision support and retraining of hospital staff during pandemic

Abstract: Purpose The COVID-19 pandemic showed an urgent need for decision support systems to help doctors at a time of stress and uncertainty. However, significant differences in hospital conditions, as well as skepticism of doctors about machine learning algorithms, limit their introduction into clinical practice. Our goal was to test and apply the principle of ”patient-like-mine” decision support in rapidly changing conditions of a pandemic. Methods In th… Show more

“…The nomogram was constructed utilizing the “rms” R package ( Pond et al, 2014 ). The web-based survival rate calculator was established using the “shiny” and “DynNom” R packages to predict cancer-specific survival rates dynamically ( Sun et al, 2020 ; Bakin et al, 2021 ). Calibration curves, which plot the average Kaplan–Meier evaluation according to the corresponding nomogram for 1-, 3-, or 5-year predicted overall survival, are provided to estimate the accuracy of the nomogram.…”

“…Over long-term use, the influence of frequently searched keywords can be improved; thus, the system can become a capable mobile pharmacopeia for individuals. The function of providing similar words for users to select is implemented through a fuzzy search method [14].…”
