Summary Owing to the large power consumption and poor indoor comfort of central air conditioning, controlling the central air conditioning for cool storage and analyzing the power saving optimization of the central air conditioning operation have become necessary. Therefore, a method of power saving optimization analysis based on an improved ant colony air conditioning system is proposed to solve the problem of power consumption. According to the characteristics of cold storage operation regulation, the power consumption of chilled water pumps and air conditioning fans were used to establish a model, and the influence of cold storage operation regulation on central air conditioning operation power consumption was analyzed. On this basis, the improved ant colony is used to optimize the power saving path, according to the factors affecting the power consumption of central air conditioning operation above, and the optimal operation of air conditioning and storage regulation was analyzed, and the power saving treatment of central air conditioning operation was completed. The experimental results show that when the method is adopted, power consumption can be reduced by 67 560 kWh for the entire year, the total consumption of the optimal working point is approximately 0.384 kW, and the power saving effect is better with certain advantages.

It is desirable to predict the occurrence of disturbance during power consumption management such as the Real‐Time Pricing (RTP) adaptive control in the future smart grid. Maintenance operation is one of the most power‐consuming operations of multitype air‐conditioners in office buildings. Because the operation occurs stochastically and abruptly, it is extremely difficult to predict the occurrence timing from the RTP control system's point of view. In this research, we propose a prediction model that forecasts the impending occurrence of the operation. The model was implemented as a Long Short‐Term Memory (LSTM) neural network because the occurrence timing depends on the air‐conditioner's operation history. The prediction accuracy was evaluated and then the contribution of the prediction model to the RTP control goodness score was estimated. In our example case, even though prediction accuracy was not perfect, the improvement of the score was estimated by up to 21%. © 2019 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Building-multitype packaged air-conditioners are expected to be possible resources of Fast Automated Demand Response (FastADR). However, transient response behaviors of each air-conditioner are stochastic due to complicated refrigerant embedded controls. Although ensemble averaging effect is expected in aggregation of a large number of the air-conditioners, it is difficult to carry out experiments with many actual office buildings. In this research, repetitive response time-series data were collected from several air-conditioners.
