Fast Synthesis of Multilayer Carbon Nanotubes from Camphor Oil as an Energy Storage Material

Abstract: Among the wide range of renewable energy sources, the ever-increasing demand for electricity storage represents an emerging challenge. Utilizing carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for energy storage is closely being scrutinized due to the promising performance on top of their extraordinary features. In this work, well-aligned multilayer carbon nanotubes were successfully synthesized on a porous silicon (PSi) substrate in a fast process using renewable natural essential oil via chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Considering… Show more

“…The IR spectrum of carbon nanotubes (Figure 2), showed intense bands corresponding to stretching vibrations of -OH, C=O and C-O, together with new bands corresponding to carboxyl groups (-COOH): ν(C=O) at 1741 cm −1 and C=O bond at 1028 cm −1 , indicating a MWCNTs surface functionalization. These typical bands, with slight variations in wavelength, can be found for carbon nanotube oxidized in different ways [35].…”

“…Fabrication of hydromagnesite using different morphologies including needle, nest, sheets, flowers, and spheres has been designated through hydrothermal and precipitation methods , TermehYousefi et al 2014. Large sheets or petals like hydromagnesite have been largely reported to go through self-assembly in order to make the nest or flower or spherical morphology of numerous micron dimensions (TermehYousefi et al 2014).…”

“…Aerogels, xerogels and other mesoporous carbon supports, provide the high surface area for the metal catalyst [4e8]. Carbon nanotubes used as 3D structural catalytic support confers high stability and high catalytic properties of materials [9,10]. In recent years graphene and WO 3 had significant interest as catalytic support.…”
