Fast Timing of Air Shower Fronts

Abstract: In order to design a telescope for use in ultra-high energy y-ray astronomy one needs to carefully consider those effects which determine the system angular resolution. This paper considers detector and discriminator designs for such a system including a consideration of the effect of the spread of particles in the shower front. An angular resolution of ~ 1 0 at energies of 10 15 e V can be achieved.
