Abstract:A Escherichia coli é uma bactéria bacilar gram-negativa presente na microbiota natural de animais endotérmicos, geralmente sem causar prejuízos ao seu hospedeiro. Entretanto, ao adquirir características capazes de provocar alterações danosas ao corpo do hospedeiro, denominadas fatores de virulência, esta pode levar a diversos quadros infecciosos intra e extra-intestinais (Azola, 2016).
