Fault-reconfiguration strategy of smart distribution network with distribution generators

Abstract

Summary To solve the complex problem about the islanding and reconfiguration of the active distribution network with multiple distributed generators (DGs) and to meet the requirement of fast response, this paper introduces a 2‐stage fault‐reconfiguration strategy. In the first stage, the interconnected DGs are dynamically separated into islanded networks based on the characters of DGs and the network structure, so as to maintain uninterruptible power supply to critical loads around the isolated islands. In the second stage, a fault‐reconfiguration of distribution networks strategy is proposed based on the imperialist competitive algorithm. Taking the constraints of voltage, capacity, and load balancing into consideration, the efficiency of the proposed approach is improved by defining the switches of loops, eliminating the wrong solutions and decreasing the dimensionality. In addition, the simulation results prove the effectiveness, rapidity, and practicability of our algorithm.
