Faunistic diversity of spiders (Araneae) in Galichitsa mountain (FYR Macedonia)

Abstract: A total of 294 species from 31 families have been found in Galichitsa Mt. Of them, 85 species are new to the mountain, while 20 are also new to the fauna of FYR of Macedonia. According to their current distribution the established species can be assigned to 17 zoogeographical categories, grouped into 5 complexes (Cosmopolitan, Holarctic, European, Mediterranean, Endemics of Balkans). Dominant are Holarctic species (66.0%) followed by European (16.5%) and Mediterranean (9.3%). The endemics (6.2%) and Southeast … Show more

“…When it comes to urban areas, the species has been found in yards on ornamental shrubs. In the surrounding area, the species is found in Serbia [36,37,38,39,40,41,42,43]. This Palearctic species has been registered in a total of 6 sites and the largest number of individuals was observed at sites Gromiţelj and Velino selo (Figure 3.).…”

“…around top windows) or between two buildings where they have built fairly large webs, some up to 1.5 m in diameter. In the surrounding area, the species is found in Serbia [36,37,38,39,40,41,42,43] This Palearctic species has been registered in a total of 20 sites and the largest number of individuals was observed at sites Gromiţelj, Begov put and Laketića vir (Figure 2.). According to Deltshev, et.al., (2003), the species inhabits terrains of 100-1141 m a.s.l., while we find it at lower altitudes, at about 60-80 m a.s.l.…”

“…The dashboards are based on the 37 open access articles in Zootaxa containing treatments on spiders (Table 1 ), and five articles in Biodiversity Data Journal ( Miller et al 2013 , Miller et al 2014 , Deltshev et al 2013 , Crespo et al 2014 , Čandek et al 2013 ; note that data in Čandek et al 2013 have been updated to reflect corrections made by the authors in a corrigendum, Čandek et al 2015 , Miller et al 2015 ). The partitions of data offer novel ways to explore and visualize taxonomic research information from geographic, institutional, temporal, individual, and specimen-oriented perspectives.…”

“…496 (73.8%) of the species treatments explicitly cited specimens. Of these, about two fifths (42.1%, 209) were based on a single specimen; the one new species was based on 69 specimens; the species with the most specimens (10.4%, 352) was Tenuiphantes tenuis , which appeared in three treatments ( Čandek et al 2013 , Crespo et al 2014 , Deltshev et al 2013 ). The dominant family by both treatments (22.9%, 154) and specimens (33.4%, 1,134) was the Linyphiidae .…”
