FDG-PET/CT Limitations in the Diagnosis of Spinal Implant Infection

Abstract: Here, we present a case of a false-negative 18F-FDG-PET/CT in a patient with an implant-associated infection with Cutibacterium acnes which negatively affected treatment. By discussing possible error sources concerning the method and the pathogen, we want to highlight the occurrence of false-negative 18F-FDG-PET/CT-examinations.
