Fe-Pt thick-film magnets prepared by electroplating method

Abstract: Fe-Pt thick-films were electroplated on Ta substrates using a direct current, and the magnetic properties of the film were evaluated. The Fe-Pt films with the thickness from 3 to 23 lm were obtained by changing in the plating time from 2 to 20 min. As the as-plated Fe-Pt films had the disordered fcc (face-centered-cubic) structure and low coercivity (<5 kA/m), we annealed the films at 700 C for 60 min. The annealing induced the phase transformation from fcc structure to fct (face-centeredtetragonal) one, and w… Show more

“…11 Recently, we reported Fe-Pt thick-film (≈ 20 µm) prepared in a plating bath containing citric acid, and showed their good hard magnetic properties. 12 In this paper, we focused on the pH value of the bath in order to improve the hard magnetic properties of the plated Fe-Pt films. For typical electroplating process, the pH value affects various properties of the films, such as structural and magnetic properties.…”

“…Taking into account of industrial advantages for the electroplating methods, we have studies some electroplated magnetic-films, such as Fe-Ni, Fe-Ni-Co and Fe-Pt, prepared from aqueous solutions, and reported their magnetic properties. [1][2][3][4] Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) are expected as new solution for plating bath due to their excellent industrial advantages. [5][6][7][8] We have reported Fe, Fe-Ni and Fe-Co films prepared in DES-based plating baths, and confirmed high current efficiency of the plating process.…”

“…Fe-Co nanoparticles and Fe-Pt electroplated film were used as the soft and hard magnetic phases, respectively, since there are previous reports of high magnetization Fe-Co nanoparticles 19) and high coercivity Fe-Pt electroplated films. 20,21) In addition, these materials have considerable potential to realize nanocomposite magnets, because a lot of previous studies on Fe-Pt based nanocomposite magnets have been reported. 14,15,[22][23][24] 2.…”
