Feasibility of a Polymer Foaming Agent as a Grouting Material for Broken Coal Masses

Abstract: A new soluble polymer foaming (PF) grouting material was developed by using hydrophilic amino resin as the base material and adding other cross-linking, foam, foam stabilizing, toughening, and coupling agents. The PF material exhibited low viscosity, excellent adhesion, and strong penetration. The grouting reinforcement effect of the proposed PF material on broken coal masses was investigated and compared with that of traditional superfine cement (SC) through simulation experiments. Results showed that after g… Show more

“…When the polymer grouting material is used to repair the uneven settlement and deformation of the frozen soil subgrade, the black and white components of the raw material create a curing reaction under the action of various catalysts and finally form a rigid polyurethane foam with a certain strength [22][23][24]. Throughout the phase change process, a significant amount of heat is generated owing to the release of chemical bond energy.…”

“…Therefore, research on grouting materials for coal mines has become an important research direction for the safety of coal mining. For example, a new soluble polymer foaming grouting material was developed by using hydrophilic amino resin as the base material [ 7 ], polyurethane/water glass (PU/WG) grouting materials [ 2 ], ordinary portland cement (C), high-strength gypsum powder (G), and a small amount of water glass (S) as matrix components to make CGS grouting material [ 8 ]. In addition, a modified grouting material was developed by using the double liquid grouting mode [ 9 ].…”

“…Miao et al [8] studied the influence of the content and fineness of limestone powder on the rheological properties of cement paste: the fluidity of cement slurry increases with the increase in the content of limestone powder, and decreased with the increase of limestone powder fineness. Zhang et al [9,10] have prepared coal/ polymer composite grouting material with improved mechanical properties by adding binders to coal chips. Du et al [11] have conducted an orthogonal liquidity test on viscosity-varying grouting materials with different pumping time; the influence of water-cement ratio and the additive agent on the properties of slurry flow are analyzed.…”
