Feature Extraction from Indirect Monitoring in Marine Oil Separation Systems

Abstract: In this article, a study of characteristic vibrations of marine oils separation system is presented. Vibrations analysis allows for the extraction of representative features that could be related to the lifetime of their pieces. Actual measurements were carried out on these systems on Ro-Pax vessels to transport passengers and freight. The vibrations obtained were processed in the frequency domain and following this, they were used in a Genetic Neuro-Fuzzy System in order to design new predictive maintenance s… Show more

“…With the application of novel innovative techniques, predictive maintenance has achieved better performance than conventional preventive approaches. There are several technologies used for predictive maintenance such as the model-based approach with the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and a data-driven approach, among others [12,13]. Some of these studies are mentioned in the following subsections.…”

“…It is well known that there are filtration systems on ships intended for the cleaning of lube oils for diesel engines. In particular, the centrifuge separator systems for oil lubricants allow the oil to be cleaned both of solid particles and the possible existence of water and sludge [12].…”
