Abstract: Primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) are a group of hereditary diseases in which individual parts of the immune system do not function properly. Most often, patients first present with clinical symptoms in childhood, but some defects may not be recognized until later in life, such as common variable immune deficiency (CVID).
