Abstract:Background. The oropharyngeal microbiota is involved in the development of colonization resistance, affecting viral adhesion and metabolism. Any deviations in the stability of the environmental microbial niches of the oropharynx alter the local immune response and can trigger severe chronic somatic disorders.
