“…An advantage of the fCIT is that it can also incorporate information from the ERPs associated with the participant receiving feedback on their response to a stimulus to detect concealment of information. In agreement with previous research, both the FRN and the feedback‐P300 can be used to significantly distinguish participants concealing information (the guilty group in the present study) from those who were not (Sai et al, 2016, 2020; Sai, Lin, Hu, & Fu, 2014). Importantly, the use of a mental countermeasure strategy did not have a significant effect on the detection efficiency of either measure.…”

“…In the P300‐based CTP, BSIT is the number of bootstrapped iterations out of 1000 in which the bootstrapped probe P300 amplitude exceeded the bootstrapped irrelevant P300 amplitude. If a participant's BSIT ≥900, it can be inferred that he or she is “guilty” (Davydova et al, 2020; Sai et al, 2020).…”

“…In addition, the cutoff points are also affected by the base-rate of guilt which may differ from case to case, and the arbitrary cutoffs cannot offer any help to future judicial practices (Lieblich et al, 1978). Therefore, this study did not report the individual diagnostic results as the previous studies did (Deng et al, 2021;Lu et al, 2017;Sai et al, 2020).…”
