“…The application of laser-bending to high strength steel sheet (DP980) was analyzed using the FEM technique. 1 The spring-back predictions in the roll-bending of a pre-coated material (PCM) 2 and in die-bending 3 were investigated using the FEM technique. Due to the merits of the die-bending process, whereby several different kinds of shapes and sizes can be fabricated with low production-costs and in a short-time, this process was the focus of the present research.…”

“…This process makes a stable bending toward the laser beam. 22,23 A schematic of laser bending process is shown in Figure 2. 21 Kotobi and Honarpisheh 21 investigated throughdepth residual stress distribution of commercially pure Grade-2 titanium parts which were subjected to laser bending.…”

“…In the laser bending process, a defocused laser beam with definite parameters is irradiated on the surface of sheet and consequently some thermal stresses are introduced in the part which forms the sheet. [21][22][23] One of the common mechanisms of laser forming is temperature gradient mechanism in which operational parameters should be selected in a manner that causes a temperature gradient through the thickness of the sample. Because of the temperature gradient in the heated area, top side of the part expands more than the bottom side in the beginning of the laser bending process.…”

“…A stable bending toward the laser beam is created by this process in the end. 22,24 Figure 2 illustrates a schematic diagram of laser bending process.…”
