Abstract:Female victimization by violent crime is a critical topic to explore both nationally and internationally; yet, gaps in research still remain. This entry is devoted to providing a definition of violent crime victimization and statistics on female victimization, presenting a brief historical overview of how female victimization has been handled in the criminal justice system, and discussing policy implications.
