Abstract:Local H-bonding interactions are crucial for proteins to undergo various structural transitions and form different secondary structures. However, identifying slight distinctions in the local H-bonding of proteins is rather challenging. Here, we demonstrate that the Fermi resonance of the N-D stretching mode can provide an effective probe for the localized Hbonding environment of proteins both at the surface/interface and in the bulk. Using sum frequency generation vibrational spectroscopy and infrared spectros… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
