Fermilab Tevatron run-1Zboson data and the Collins-Soper-Sterman resummation formalism

Abstract: We examine the effect of the Z-boson transverse momentum distribution measured at run-1 of the Fermilab Tevatron on the nonperturbative function of the Collins-Soper-Sterman ͑CSS͒ formalism, which resums large logarithmic terms from multiple soft gluon emission in hadron collisions. The inclusion of the Tevatron run-1 Z boson data strongly favors a Gaussian form of the CSS nonperturbative function, when combined with the other low energy Drell-Yan data in a global fit.

“…A QCD calculation which takes this into account through resummation is provided by Resbos [23][24][25]. 2 Another resummed calculation [26] has been compared with ATLAS data [27] in the central region of rapidity, but is not yet available for the LHCb acceptance.…”

“…The choice off q NP corresponds to non-perturbative functions used in analysis of TMD functions at tree-level by the Torino-Cagliari-JLab group [49,50]. The choice of g K (b T ) is motivated by the so-called LBNY fit of Drell-Yan cross-sections using CSS resummation formalism [51].…”

“…by [26] and [27] (the so-called BLNY model) implement an ansatz within the standard CSS approach with b * -prescription in the impact parameter space (or b-space). They introduce a set of non-perturbative parameters g 1,2,3 and all these parameters (including the definition of b * prescription) are fundamental for these fits.…”
