“…Additionally, the 3D cobalt squarate [Co 3 (μ 3 ‐OH) 2 (C 4 O 4 ) 2 ]⋅3 H 2 O, with brucite‐type {Co(OH) 3 } double chains and squarate anions has been prepared 110b. Similar brucite‐type double chains have also been observed in cadmium chlorooxalate,67a cobalt adipate,98a and layered iron hydroxysquarate structures 109b…”

“…The presence of infinite M‐O‐M connectivities in metal dicarboxylate structures facilitates electronic and magnetic exchange in one, two, or three dimensions. In the reported nickel fumarate,99a cobalt succinates,99c,e and cobalt adipate98a the possibility of braiding massive metal–organic structures with predetermined periodic M‐O‐M arrays has been demonstrated to give desired electronic, optical, and other useful properties, and to extend such interactions to larger dimensions via the mediating carboxylate linkages. For example, in the cobalt adipate compound the brucite‐type {Co(OH) 3 } units are aligned by the adipate anions, and the compound exhibits interesting magnetic properties 98a.…”

“…In this aspect, organic aromatic polycarboxylate ligands have been widely used in constructing such compounds [8]. However, complexes based on dicarboxylate ligand adipate have rarely reported hitherto, especially in the respect of the interpenetrating frameworks [9]. More recently, adipate has proved to be a good candidate for assembling high dimensional metal-organic architectures owing to its three interesting structural features.…”
