Ferroelectric Materials and Their Applications in Activation of Small Molecules

Abstract: The demand for renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources has attracted extensive research on high-performance catalysts. Ferroelectrics, a class of materials with switchable polarization, are unique and promising catalyst candidates due to the significant effects of polarization on surface chemistry and physics. The band bending at the ferroelectric/semiconductor interface induced by the polarization flip promotes charge separation and transfer, thereby enhancing the photocatalytic performance. Mor… Show more

“…Estimating Stroma and Immune Cells in Malignant Tumor Tissue Using Expression Data (ESTIMATE) is a method to predict immune score, stromal score, and tumor purity in tumor tissue from gene expression data. [10] Calculations at the immune cell level were performed on the expression matrices of the 2 subtypes.…”

“…[16][17][18][19] Ferroelectric materials such as perovskites, MXenes, and In 2 Se 3 have been investigated experimentally and computationally for various reactions, including water splitting, oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), 20 nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR), 21 CO 2 RR, 22 and others. [23][24][25][26][27] Two dimensional (2D) materials are also attractive as photocatalysts owing to their increased surface area and active sites, short bulk to surface distance which prevents charge carrier recombination, and tunable band gaps. 28,29 In particular, the family of 2D MXenes has recently gained attention as a possible family for use as CO 2 RR catalysts.…”

“…Especially, the utilization of ferroelectric polarization has been widely explored. 19 For example, perovskites like BaTiO 3 showed polarization-dependent adsorption, leading to improved hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). [20][21][22][23] The adsorption energies of molecules and the efficiency of CO 2 reduction reaction (CO 2 RR) were dependent on the polarization of In 2 Se 3 .…”
