“…The samples where MnO 2 is analyzed to be between 40 and 55% are grouped in the low‐grade category which exhibits a greater number of smaller peaks. Peaks 1 (454 cm ‐1 ), 2 (496 ± 7 cm ‐1 ) and 5 to 10 are broadly attributable to clay and iron hydroxide minerals (Van Der Marel & Beutelspacher, ; Dessai, ; Cambier, ; Ostwald, ; Mohapatra et al ., ; Vaculikova & Plevova, ), while peak 4 (748 ± 20 cm ‐1 ) is assigned to manganese minerals. This peak 4 forms a part of the 1400 to 200 cm ‐1 region which is reportedly due to the vibration of the MnO 6 octahedral framework by Potter and Rossman ().…”
