“…Ovulation from polyovular follicles was not ascertained but suggested by several authors, when the number of embryos exceeded the number of corpora lutea, and the possibility of one ovum dividing was excluded (Davis & Hall, 1950). Zeilmaker et al (1983) and Simonetti et al (1985) described human follicles punctured for in-vitro fertilization as yielding 2 oocytes but ovulation was never demonstrated. Polyovular follicles occur frequently in rabbits and we have studied these follicles during the whole course of folliculogenesis from the primary to the preovulatory stage and possible ovulation.…”
