Fiber laser based hyperspectral sources

Abstract: Hyperspectral sources spanning from the XUV to the THz spectral range based on high power ultrafast fiber lasers are reviewed. With advances in large core and micro-structured fibers as well as absolute phase control techniques fiber systems can greatly exceed the performance of solid-state lasers systems in the hyperspectral domain. Experimental setup for an ultra-compact single-polarization passively modelocked fiber master oscillator power amplifier

“…The engineering of a handheld microscope or endoscope is itself a broad subject, with a new trend toward the maximization of fiber‐based components, or equivalently, the minimization of free‐space components . This development trend of the application‐dependent light‐delivery module parallels the similar development trends of the ultrafast fiber source laser and the (optional) intermediate optics in this review (Sects. 2–5), reflecting the ultimate goal of a fiber‐format system and instrumentation immune to mechanical and thermal perturbations.…”

“…Nonlinear-optical PCF components have been shown to be ideally suited to work in combination with Ti:Sapphire and Cr:Forsterite solid-state mode-locked sources [3][4][5]15], as well as with ytterbium fiber lasers [16][17][18][19].…”
