Fiber optic Fabry‐Perot interferometer based sensor for inspecting cleaved fiber ends

Abstract: We propose a novel fiber optic sensor for inspecting cleaved optical fiber ends based on Fabry–Perot interferometer. The sensor uses mainly laser diodes, an optical power meter, 3‐dB coupler, and XY lateral adjustment fiber stage. Experimentally obtained fiber end images were in good agreement with scanning electron microscope observation images. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
