Fibers Obtaining and Characterization Using Poly (Lactic-co-Glycolic Acid) and Poly (Isoprene) Containing Hydroxyapatite and α TCP Calcium Phosphate by Electrospinning Method

Abstract: Natural bone is formed by a complex composite, essentially constituted of biological apatite and fibers of collagen. The combination of materials such as biopolymers and bioceramics may result in an interesting material for application in bone tissue regeneration. This work aims to obtain polymeric fibers containing Poly (Lactic-co-Glycolic Acid) and Poly (Isoprene), supplemented with hydroxyapatite (HA) and α-tricalcium phosphate (TCP). The thermal, mechanical and morphological properties of the fibers were e… Show more

“…The choice of these levels was based on results of previous work. 5,18 In all experiments the needle diameter was 0.7 mm and as a collector, a thin aluminum sheet was attached to the fixed collector which was grounded properly.…”

“…The bands at 982 and 2900 cm −1 can be, respectively, linked to the P-O symmetric stretching and (P-)O-H stretching of HPO4 2− [32,33]. The peak at 1048 cm −1 can be assigned to the asymmetric stretching (ʋ3 PO4 3− ), while the peak at 1113 cm −1 to the PO4 3− asymmetric stretching in stoichiometric apatite [34,35]. The band at 1192 cm −1 can be attributed to the asymmetric stretching vibration of HPO4 2− [36], while the one at 870 cm −1 is associated with the ʋ2 symmetric stretching vibrations of carbonate ions, which can be incorporated into the apatites from atmospheric CO2 [32].…”

“…The development of scaffolds using some inorganic particles has attracted a lot of attention, and several techniques have been used to obtain these composites depending on the applications [13,14]. One of these technologies is electrospinning that generates micro/nanofibers on a large scale and at a low cost starting from polymeric solutions [15][16][17][18][19][20]. Although this technique is highly versatile, it presents some limitations as the conductivity of the solution, a high-voltage electric field necessary, and a low production rate.…”
