Field Investigation on River Hydrochemical Characteristics and Larval and Juvenile Fish in the Source Region of the Yangtze River

Abstract: The source region of the Yangtze River (SRYR) is located in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, where the climatic conditions and alpine-cold natural conditions are harsh. Field investigations of the hydrochemical characteristics and larva and juvenile fish in rivers of the SRYR were carried out in July 2018 with the aim of obtaining further information on the unique ecological environment status of this plateau area. The results of the present research indicated that majority of the river water quality parameters in t… Show more

“…The results of canonical correspondence analysis demonstrated that the distribution of crucian carp exhibited a positive response to water temperature, a positive response to K, oxygen concentration, and amount of macrophytes and a negative correlation with PO 4 , Mg, and Cl. Similar results, but in studies conducted on fish in rivers, were obtained by Zhao et al [60], where the results of principal component analysis and canonical correspondence analysis demonstrated that the distribution of Herzensteinia microcephalus (Herzenstein, 1891) exhibited a positive response to water temperature, a positive response to K, and negative correlation to total phosphorus, as in this study for crucian carp. The conditions of fish habitats, similar to those in lakes with larger areas, are highly associated with biogenic compounds [58].…”

“…In July 2017, additional synchronous sampling was implemented at three national hydrologic sites Tuotuohe (TTH), Tongtianhe (TOTH) and Zhimenda (ZMD) in the source region of the Yangtze River located on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. Considering insignificant interannual variations in water quality, riverine habitats and aquatic organisms on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau in recent years [ 24 , 25 ], the above remedial sampling was helpful for obtaining a complete biogeographic pattern of comammox Nitrospira throughout the whole river. Details of the sampling were provided in our previous work [ 25 27 ].…”

“…Cluster analysis (CA) is an unsupervised pattern-recognition method that is widely applied to analyze water quality [33,34]. Hierarchical and non-hierarchical are the two major categories of CA.…”
