Abstract:SUMMARYDominance of one phase (i.e. diploid or haploid) has been reported in various isomorphic macroalgae; however, studies of the relative frequencies of the two phases are limited to a few taxa owing to the difficulty in identifying phases of sterile thalli. In Dictyota dichotoma, we have previously documented the dominance of fertile sporophytes. In the present study, the phase and sex ratios of sterile thalli of D. dichotoma were determined using newly developed sex‐specific markers. Differentially expres… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
