Fifteen-minute consultation: Child with persistent runny nose

Abstract: A child with persistent runny nose may cause significant parental anxiety and healthcare utilisation. While the most common diagnoses are recurrent acute viral upper respiratory tract infections and allergic rhinitis, a careful history and examination is necessary to exclude other causes and to identify comorbidities. Treatment can then be tailored to the underlying cause. The aim of this article is to provide a systematic approach to such patients.
