“…In this report, 2,4-DBP has acted synergistically with the conventional antibiotics tested against A. baumannii . Obtained results are in accordance with several other research groups that worked on secondary metabolites against A. baumannii [53, 54]. Our findings strengthen the combinatorial use of anti-biofilm and other anti-microbial agents to combat the bacterial pathogenesis.…”

“…The elimination of A. baumannii biofilms from living and non-living subjects is a huge challenge for clinicians leading to a high demand of novel therapeutics. Vogel et al [53] concluded that PvdQ, an acylase which targets and chelates lactone ring, was effective in reducing the AHL-dependent biofilm production in A. baumannii. On the other hand, when compared to the previous report by Sivaranjani et al [54] and Chang et al [55], where alpha-mangostin and EDTA was only able to stop the early biofilm formation, our study showed inhibition of both early as well as preformed biofilm.…”

“…The inhibition of quorum-sensing, i.e., quorum-quenching, is one of the promising strategies to impair biofilm formation. For instance, the P. aeruginosa acylase PvdQ is able to cleave the acyl homoserine lactones of A. baumannii which are the mediators of quorum-sensing in this pathogen, affecting bacterial communication and, as a consequence, impairing biofilm formation in vitro ( Vogel et al, 2022 ).…”

“…Besides, total extracts of Tinospora cordifolia, flavonoids of Glycyrrhiza glabra (Bhargava et al, 2015), essential oils from Eucalyptus (Luís et al, 2016), and linalool from Coriandrum sativum (Alves et al, 2016) inhibited QS and biofilm formation in A. baumannii. Furthermore, disruption of AHL signals by lactonases AiiA (Chow et al, 2014), α/ß hydrolase AidA (Lopez et al, 2017) and PvdQ acylase enzyme (Vogel et al, 2022), MomL of Muricauda olearia significantly eliminates biofilm formation from A. baumannii and prevents bacterial motility (Zhang et al, 2017).…”
