Fine Mapping and Candidate Gene Analysis of the Tiller Suppression Gene ts1 in Rice

Abstract: Tiller number is one of the key factors that influences rice plant type and yield components. In this study, an EMS-induced rice tiller suppression mutant ts1 was characterized. Morphological and histological observations revealed that, in the ts1 plants, the tiller buds were abnormally formed and therefore cannot outgrow into tillers. With an F2 population derived from a cross between ts1 and an indica cultivar Wushansimiao, a major gene, tiller suppression 1 (ts1) was fine-mapped to a 108.5 kb genomic region… Show more

“…For literature validation, a separate set of nine casual genes was used for each species. It 392 includes causal genes that have been cloned or indicated by joint linkage-association analysis or 393 indicated by mutant analysis (Chardon et al, 2013;Fan et al, 2016;Fukuoka et al, 2014;Gao et 394 al., 2016;Guo et al, 2015;Hu et al, 2008;Huang et al, 2012;Liu et al, 2017;Motte et al, 395 2014;Oikawa et al, 2015;Qi et al, 2008;Sharma et al, 2005;Yuan et al, 2016;Zeng et al, 396…”

“…Each phytomere normally consist of three positions: stem segments of internodes, leaves (developed from the leaf primordium), and axillary buds/lateral branches in the axils of leaves (developed from the axillary meristem (AM)) [ 4 , 5 ]. The activity and quantity of AMs largely determine plant strain and adaptability [ 6 ].…”
