“…When diagnostic yield is defined as the number of cases given a diagnosis over the total number of cases, 36 FNA was found to have a diagnostic yield of 52.5%. 45 In our study of 171 cases, the diagnostic yield for CNB was 96.5% (165/171). Even if the 11 false-negative cases (where only benign striated muscle and fibroadipose tissue were found) were considered non-diagnostic, the diagnostic yield for CNB would have been 90%.…”

“…This degree of accuracy is statistically the same as that reported by Birgin, et al 19 for CNB with a 97% sensitivity and 99% specificity. Accuracy for the prediction of histologic sub-type of malignancies was also found to be highly accurate by Chambers et al 45 They found that FNA accurately predicted the sub-type of malignancy in 87.0% of cases. This compares favorably with the accuracy of CNB biopsy in specific sub-typing of soft tissue neoplasms.…”

“…In solchen Fällen kann häufig auf eine Knochenstanze verzichtet und auf die schonenderen Truecutoder Feinnadeln zurückgegriffen werden [159]. Sensitivität und Spezifität bei Einsatz von Feinnadeln sind vergleichbar mit Hohlnadelpunktionen und offenen Probenentnahmen [160]. Am häufigsten wird die Indikation zur Materialgewinnung an Wirbelsäule/ Sakrum gestellt.…”

“…Due to its success, FNAB is developed to be the initial method to preoperative diagnosis of all tumors, both benign and malignant. FNAB has several advantages due to its simple and less invasive nature, well tolerated by patients, minimal risk of complication, ability to yield quicker results, and low cost [2], [3], [4], [5]. FNAB can also sample more easily multiple areas of a mass, potentially providing more representative material than one or two core needle biopsy specimens [3].…”
