“…After receiving the Khoshkehrud, Gelsardab, Siahpalas, Elarm, Absefid, Emam Bahtak, and Dalichay streams, it drains into Haraz River. Lar River, with a length of 55 km and an average slope of 3%, flows from northwest to southeast before draining to Haraz River which flows toward the Caspian Sea in the north (IRGOAF, 2005; Tabatabaei, Abdoli, Hashemzadeh Segherloo, et al., 2020).…”

“…This situation has led to the development and implementation of national management and conservation programs by Iranian fisheries and environmental organizations to protect the populations of the species that inhabit the south Caspian Sea basin. One population of Caspian Sea trout exists in tributaries of the Haraz River (Lar River) in Lar National Park, a protected area located west of the Damavand Summit in Iran (Tabatabaei, Abdoli, Hashemzadeh Segherloo, et al., 2020). According to previous reports, in reaches of Haraz River downstream of the Lar River, there exist 20 fish species belonging to the families Cyprinidae (11 species), Salmonidae (two species), and families Gobiidae, Gasterosteidae, Petromyzontidae, Mugilidae, Cobitidae, Poeciliidae, and Balitoridae (one species each) (Banagar et al., 2008).…”

“…Caspian trout, Salmo caspius , is a popular species in Iran, considered a good candidate for aquaculture industry (Kenari et al, 2013). Moreover, the natural population of this species has been declined, and a stock rehabilitation programme has been conducted to restore its populations (Tabatabaei et al, 2020). There are limited studies on the use of anaesthetics in this species (Bahrekazemi & Yousefi, 2017), which indicates the need for more data on this topic, particularly about the use of new anaesthetics.…”
