Finite-difference time-domain method for calculating photoexcited molecular vibration wave-packet dynamics

Abstract: We propose a simple numerical calculation method for solving molecular vibrational dynamics. A finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is utilized to solve the Schrödinger equation for wave packet dynamics driven by incident light pulses. Vibrational wave function is discretized and divided into real and imaginary parts, and then the Schrödinger equation is solved by temporally and alternately calculating the real and imaginary parts, in a similar manner to the conventional FDTD method.
