Fire Dynamics Simulation and Evacuation for a Large Shopping Center (Mall), Part II, Evacuation Scenarios

Abstract: Evacuation plans in large malls are very essential in cases of emergency especially fire. Many fatalities may occur among panicked people running and pushing to get out of these burning places. The present study considers evacuation cases corresponding to the fire cases that were considered in part I. It is established that evacuation planning is vital to help people get out of the mall without being exposed to suffocation due to smoke inhaling or having accidents due to panic rush in corridors and over the st… Show more

“…S. Peeta et al [16] proposed an FL model based on fuzzy logic to cope with the heterogeneous behavior of evacuees after disasters such as earthquakes and chemical plant explosions, resulting in emergency evacuation measures due to large uncertainties. Khalid A. Albis et al [17] proposed a model for sudden fire evacuation of large shopping malls through fire dynamics simulation. Khalili-Damghanin et al [18] proposed a hybrid mathematical planning model for uncertain multi-objective, multi-commodity, multi-cycle location assignment using a multi-objective optimization and location assignment model.…”

“…In recent years, many scholars at home and abroad have devoted themselves to the study of fire evacuation and established relevant theoretical models [4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]. Choi, S. et al [13] used a social force model to study the interrelationship between the level of evacuation alarm information and evacuation efficiency in high-rise buildings, and Ahmed F., et al [14,15] analyzed fire scenarios and evacuation plans in large shopping centers, and the results showed that the spread of smoke is related to the building and its internal activities and that corridors and stairs are crucial in the evacuation process. Yang Yuting et al [16] conducted a numerical simulation of the evacuation of people in a specific fire scenario in a commercial complex and proposed technical measures for fire prevention and control based on the analysis results and the current situation.…”
