First assessment of the metazoan parasite community of Gymnogeophagus balzanii (Cichliformes: Cichlidae) from Pantanal wetlands, State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazill

Abstract: Brevimuticaecum sp. Diagnosis: Third-stage larva. Small translucent nematodes. Ventriculus at base of oesophagus with several short ventricular appendixes, extending anteriorly and posteriorly. Intestinal caecum present. Excretory pore at nerve ring level. Conical tail without mucron. Site of infection: Liver. Remarks: According to Luque et al.
