Abstract: Hepatitis E virus (HEV), an emerging zoonotic pathogen, poses a significant public health concern worldwide. Recently, rat HEV (Rocahepevirus ratti genotype C1; HEV‐C1) has been reported to cause zoonotic infections and hepatitis in humans.
