First Measurements of the Magnetic Field within the Ocean Crust: Deep Sea Drilling Project Legs 68 and 69

Abstract: A downhole magnetometer was deployed within the ocean crust for the first time in holes drilled on the south flank of the Costa Rica Rift during Deep Sea Drilling Project Legs 68 and 69. The holes in question were Holes 501, 504B, and 5O5B.
