First observation of the

Abstract: We report the first observation of the + decay mode of the 0 (1690), confirming the existence of this resonance. The 0 (1690) were produced by of 345 GeV=c mean momentum in copper and carbon targets. The mass and width are close to those observed earlier for the (1690) in the K decay channel. The product of inclusive production cross section and branching ratio is given relative to that of the 0 (1530).

“…Finally we note that the ⌶ − + mass distribution observed by WA89 has already been published previously [32] (see also Table II). This combination is dominated by the peak from ⌶ 0 ͑1530͒ decays.…”

“…At the same time it collected a high statistics data sample of hyperons and hyperon resonances [31][32][33][34][35][36][37]. Here we present a search for the S = −2 resonance in ⌺ − induced reactions on C and Cu at 340 GeV/ c. We also include interactions in the tracking detectors (silicon detectors and plastic scintillator) located close to these targets.…”

“…These models clearly contradict the constituent quark model [23]. As for the (1690), although it has recently been reported in the π channel [29], it has mostly been observed in the / K − decay, which has very low acceptance in the current experiment.…”

“…In the following, we describe the event selection for the decays Ξ on the data sample in this analysis are very similar to those used in the measurement of the Ξ − production cross section [9] and in the search for Ξ 0 1690 → Ξ − π + decays [16]. First, Λ 0 candidates were reconstructed from all pairs of positive and negative tracks which formed a vertex downstream of the target.…”
