In February 2010, 77 brown bullhead were collected in Lake Czarne, and one in July 2010 was caught by angling method in Lake D³ugie in Olsztyn (northeast Poland). “…The respective numbers for other cities are: Cracow -Vistula R. (Kapusta et al 2010, Boroń, Szlachciak 2011. The city holds numerous lakes of various trophic level (most often eutrophic) which prevail over the rivers, hence the ichthyofauna, compared to those of other cities, includes several typically lacustrine species {Salmo trutta m. lacustris, Coregonus albula, C. lavaretus, Osmerus eperlanus).…”

In recent years also the fish fauna of Olsztyn was studied, especially of the lakes situated within the city (Kapusta et al 2010, Boroń, Szlachciak 2011. Literature review shows that the ichthyofauna was thoroughly discussed only in the case of Kraków.…”

“…These new habitats belong to the upper reaches of the rivers Zapadny Bug and Pripiat' , i. e., the Baltic and Black Sea Basins (Ivlev and Protasov, 1948;Makushok, 1951;Zhukov, 1965). Recently, the brown bullhead has been noted in ZOOLOGY the neighboring areas of Poland (Kapusta et al, 2010). In the 1940s brown bullhead breeding was organized in Belarus.…”

“…However, such records have not been reported so far. In the most wellknown recent reviews on fish and alien species of Russia, it was either not mentioned (Kudersky, 2001;Biological invasions…, 2004) or mentioned without indication of the locations of occurrence and details of registration (Bogutskaya and Naseka, 2004;www.sevin.ru). It turned out recently that brown bullheads did in fact appear in Russia, but not where they were expected: instead of the water bodies at the borderline with Belarus and Ukraine, they were found in Saint Petersburg on the Karelian Isthmus, i.e., on the territory between Lake Ladoga and the Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea.…”

“…The first specimens were noticed in Romania in 1997 ( Wilhelm, 1998 ), in Slovakia in 1999 ( Koščo et al, 2000 ), in Portugal in 2002 ( Gante & Santos, 2002 ), in the Czech Republic in 2003 ( Lusk, Luskova & Hanel, 2010 ), in new waters of Serbia in 2005 ( Cvijanović, Lenhardt & Hegediš, 2005 ) and in the Iberian Peninsula ( Garcia-De-Lomas et al, 2009 ). It was found in Poland in 2007, although it had probably been introduced into the country already in the late 19th century ( Nowak et al, 2010 ), while the already present Ameiurus nebulosus continued to spread farther north ( Kapusta et al, 2010 ). The presence of Ameiurus nebulosus and black bullheads in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine was demonstrated in 2014 by a detailed morphological analysis ( Movchan, Talabishka & Velikopolskiy, 2014 ).…”
