“…In conclusion, this work separated and fully identified fourteen eremophilane sesquiterpenoids (1−14), including nine new ones, septoreremophilanes A−I (1−9), one known eduesmane-type sesquiterpene (15), two known guaiane-type sesquiterpenes (16,17), two described tetralone congeners (18,19), and two known cholesterol derivatives (20,21) from cultures of the S. rudbeckiae fungus. The effects of all metabolites against eight bacteria were estimated in vitro, and the novel metabolites (1−9) were tested for antineuroinflammatory…”

“…Septoria represents the polyphyletic assembly of genera that cluster mostly in the mycosphaerellaceae, and so far, more than 2000 taxa have been identified . A majority of Septoria fungi belong to plant pathogens and widely invaded various plants and fruit species; then, they caused multiform symptoms, including stem canker, decay, leaf spots, and fruit deformity, thereby rendering significant reduction in production and considerable economic losses in agriculture. , However, a number of Septoria fungi are prolific creators of structurally intriguing natural products involved in diverse biological activities. For instance, three trinor-eremophilane sesquiterpenoids (septeremophilanes D–F) with more potent inhibition of NO generation in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated BV-2 microglial cells were obtained from the fungus Septoria rudbeckiae .…”
