“…The Sanctuary comes under the jurisdiction and forest division of District Shopian which lies in the southern escarpment of Kashmir Valley (Figure 2). The Sanctuary has a total area of 341.25 km2; with most of the landcover is under forest cover followed by pastures, wastelands and water bodies including alpine lakes (Riyaz & Reshi, 2021).
