“…Two Mediterranean bat species, Pipistrellus kuhlii and Hypsugo savii, expanded from their original core area of distribution in the thermo-Mediterranean zone of southern Europe towards the north. In the case of Pipistrellus kuhlii, scarce data were published from various parts of its European range (Strelkov et al 1985, Bauer 1996, Paunović & Marinković 1998, Cel'uch & Ševčík 2006, Sachanowicz et al 2006b, Popczyk et al 2008, Chişamera & Murariu 2009, Wawrocka et al 2012. A range expansion of Hypsugo savii was suggested to have occurred already in the early 1990s, based on records from north-eastern Austria (Spitzenberger 1997).…”

Apart from very recent records of rapidly expanding P. kuhlii that is obviously associated with manmade structures in the region (Ceľuch & Ševčík 2006;Sachanowicz et al 2006;Danko 2007;Maxinová et al 2016;Michálek et al 2017), urban environment is characteristic mainly for P. pipistrellus that is also significantly more frequent species than P. pygmaeus in large urban agglomeration of central Europe (Jahelková et al 2008;Hanák et al 2009). However, observation of transient common roosting of the common and soprano pipistrelles in multi-storey prefab house in central Slovakia during spring migration period ) also suggests possibility for autumn co-occurrence.…”
