First report of an important sheat nematode, Hemicycliophora poranga, associated with sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) in Vietnam

Abstract: Summary Several species of the sheat nematodes, Hemicycliophora spp., have been known to cause significant damage to agricultural crops, including Hemicycliophora arenaria, H. conida, H. parvana, H. poranga, H. similis, and H. typica. Remarkably, our study reported on the presence of H. poranga for the first time in Vietnam. This species was found on 83.33% of the total samples with an average density of 270 individuals/100ml of soil (positive samples). In this study, the Vietnamese population o… Show more

“…Helicotylenchus dihystera and Tylenchorhynchus zeae can be potential pests to vegetables, maize and soybean (Firoza and Maqbool, 1995;Brücher et al, 2019;Machado et al, 2019, Xu et al, 2020. Hemicycliophora poranga can seriously infect vegetables and sugar-beet (Chitambar, 1993;Emilse et al, 2011;Nguyen and Trinh, 2021) and Nanidorus minor is a potential threat to several plants due to the risk of tobravirus transmission. Scutellonema brachyurus is mainly prevalent in tropical and subtropical areas (van den Berg et al, 2013;Machado et al, 2019), but in the light of global warming and climate change, it could become established and become an endemic pest in more temperate areas (Nguyen et al, 2019).…”

“…Одним из серьезных заболеваний, снижающим урожайность корнеплодов сахарной свеклы, является фитогельминтоз, вызываемый разными вредителямипредставителями типа первичноротых червей нематод (Nematoda) [3,4]. Сахарную свеклу поражает преимущественно свекловичная нематода, представитель вида Heterodera schachtii Schmidt, а также около шести видов галловых нематод рода Meloidogyne ssp., которые вызывают в основном корневое угнетение.…”
