“…This family consists of three subfamilies: Tegopalpinae, Brevipalpinae and Tenuipalpinae, the two latter ones including most of the described species: Brevipalpus and Tenuipalpus are the two largest genera and also the most economically important pest on citrus (Kitajima et al 1972), coffee (Chagas et al 2000), passion-fruit (Kitajima et al 1997) and ornamentals (Smith-Meyer 1979).
