“…For M. vanicolensis , the only available work is that of Jehangeer (), who estimated the b values at 2.905 and 3.015 for females and males, respectively. While for P. forrskali, the b value given by Sabrah () was 2.8 which greatly differ from the present one.…”

“…All mullid species are benthic carnivores, using their sensory barbels to drive out prey. Due to their economic value, goatfish have been a subject of intense biological and classification studies (Al‐Rousan, Rasheed, Khalaf, & Badran, ; Ben‐Tuvia & Kissil, ; Gosline, ; Gündoğdu and Baylan, ; Hammam, ; Holland, Peterson, Lowe, & Wetherbee, ; Joanna et al., ; Mehanna, ,; Munro, ; Sabrah, ; Wahbeh, ,). Few studies were undertaken on mullid species in the Egyptian Red Sea.…”

“….According to Absy (1988) and Khalaf and Disi (1997), these species may be exploited by the Mediterranean fishery. Sabrah (2015) reported similar results of P. forsskali for fisheries biology and population dynamics in Hurghada, Egypt. Although P. forsskali was recorded only at Mersin in the northeastern Mediterranean coast of Turkey.…”

“…However, juveniles are found in large numbers in shallow sandy beaches (Golani, 1993). It reaches a maximum total length of 28.1 cm in female and 28.5 cm in male (Sabrah, 2015) and feeds on benthic invertebrates (Hobson, 1974).…”

“…Despite goatfishes are considered to be the most economical catch from the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, there were very little known about their fisheries biology. The only relevant studies addressing the biological characteristics of some goatfish species endemic the Gulf of Suez and the Egyptian Red Sea were conducted by Sabrah (2007 and2015) in U. japonicas and P. frosskali as well as Sabrah & El-Ganainy (2009) in U. vittatus and U. tragula. Ramadan & El-Halfawy (2014) pointed on the fishery and the reproductive biology of U. pori in the Egyptian Mediterranean Coast.…”
